True to his lifelong mantra, “Personal Image is Everything”, Marvin ‘Marv the Barb’ Church is the premier, top-shelf caliber grooming professional that will keep you “razor sharp” while looking and feeling like a million bucks of new money.
With nearly 20 years
of luxury grooming experience, Marv has built a loyal clientele of
high-profile lawyers, lobbyists, CPA’s, executives, government officials,
secret service professionals and professional athletes. He has worked with
celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Hill Harper, Blair Underwood, Darius
McCray, Jay Z, Michael Eric Dyson, Judge Greg Mathis, Lamman Rucker,
Stewart Bick, MC Lyte, D Nice, Gordon Chambers, Troy Brown, Esau McGraw,
and members of the legendary Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest.
While Marv is based in downtown Washington DC, just minutes from the White House, his superior skills have expanded his client base to both coasts for both personal appointments and large scale event assignments.
“What sets my work apart”, says Marv, “is that I transcend mere barbering to provide full-service luxury grooming for both men and women. My commitment is to make each client absolutely thrilled with their personal appearance after I’ve groomed them.”
Marv provides a multitude of grooming services, but specializes in shaving---often a nemesis for ethnic men. “I work with different textures of hair like a seamstress sews different fabrics”, says Marv. “This level of service and skill can only be appreciated by the experience itself. My clients feel like new men after they are treated to a precision shave and skin exfoliation with special oil treatments and without the razor burn, bumps, or discomfort from alcohol and alcohol-based products.”
In alignment with the full-service nature of the experience Marv provides, he has had the pleasure of working with celebrity manicurist Melissa Bozant of Art Mix Beauty, make-up artist Kim Lee and stylist Angelique Alston of Outer Skinz Image Group. Marv is a member of International Barbers Association, National Cosmetologist Association, United Nations and Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce.
Marv
has been sought out to work numerous Media and Television Events such as
the Espy Awards and the BET Honors. His work has been featured in Ebony,
Urban Kingdom, DC Law, I-Networx Magazine, Backlight Models Swimsuit
Calendar, and various advertisement campaigns.
In 2004 he won Oster’s Golden Clipper Award. In 2007 he created an Educational/Promotional DVD “Subscribe to the Movement" EPK. His passion and dedication in giving back to the beauty industry has inspired him to become an Educator and Image Consultant. Marv’s platform artistry has influenced him to become an author, with his first book of hair images called “The Look Book”.
With future plans to open a 5-star unisex hair salon, release a professional groomer’s product line, and to produce a television show dedicated to male grooming and fashion, Marvin Church is poised to continue his meteoric rise to success and notoriety as a true master of his craft.
If your personal image is of the utmost important to you, and you are ready for the “Marv the Barb” experience, you can make appointments at the Patrick Segui Coiffures located in McPherson Square in downtown Washington, DC. You are also invited to inquire about Marv’s grooming services for your next high-profile event.
